The Zebra Pleco originates from the Rio Xingú in Brazil.
They like hiding places, such as caves. The substrate should be sand and
large rocks. Excellent filtration should be maintained. They will high
protein foods and spirulina. They don't eat algae from the sides of the
tank. Zebras are timid and should not be mixed with
agressive tankmates.
Males have a more pronounced pectoral fin. A male is best kept with
several females. Breeding is less difficult than with most exotic plecos.
